The Hibiscus Plant

The vibrant Hibiscus flowering plant is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae.T hey are large delicate shrubs with rich dark green leaves that produce huge colorful trumpet-shaped flowers, over a long season. The Hibiscus plant can grow as tall as 12 feet, with its flower growing approximately 5 inches in diameter. It appears in many different colors including white, red, peach, pink and yellow. These shrubs can be pruned into a single stemmed plant or be grown to become a beautiful garden hedge. Animals such as birds, bees, and butterflies are attracted to the beautiful hibiscus flowers. Pest such as aphids, whiteflies, and mealybugs are also attracted to the Hibiscus plant. To control a pest, it is suggested to use a horticultural oil or insecticide soap. The Hibiscus plant thrives best in partially shaded or sunlit areas. A moderate amount of watering, together with well-drained soil and fertilizer helps keep the plant looking healthy and beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree, its has a rich red on the inside and a plush pink on the outside. I can think of many things I would like to see in these colors.
